I tested this by moving an app to sd card, but the icon never changed....rebooted, still has the correct icon....not sure about this, I'd have to do some research...

all data in the /data partition....so any apps you've installed, settings, etc

short answer....yes....wifi tether & hot spot are 2 different apps....both will work, and as aedon said, the hot spot app is hacked.
