As was previously written, you are all correct. However, for the posts on 28 November, it isn't just about you informing HTC what your plans are (for example, you could say that you're a dev). I went there to take a look for a friend of mine, and, there are off-site links to get you there, too, by the way - HTC has this workaround designed to digitally 'watermark' your phone, so that if you ever need warranty service done - the tech will find the 'watermark' - your warranty goes bye-bye, anyway. If it was me, I'd go to craigslist, or eBay - see if you can make a trade - not everyone out there wants their phone to have root, you know? Some other cats that I keep in touch with out in LA are saying that HTC is considering a re-think about their rules re R&D protection (like Motorola and Samsung have reportedly done, due to AOSP). As always, it's a wait-and-see game... time will tell.
