Define quality? in terms of technologically wimax and lte are around the same, but again if you have it run in a lower frequency you get advantages. Also keep in mind that the implementation of wimax used by sprint is old too.

In 2013 sprint plans to roll out LTE-Advanced which is technologically on par with wimax 2.
