I've tried running the oneclick exploit v.2.5.5, I've tried installing, uninstalling, reinstalling a couple different driver packs. I've tried fixing the connectivity issue by installing kies to see if that would help...Kies doesn't even support the epic (which is awesome, seeing as though they're both made by the same company...) I've gone here: Install ADB, USB Drivers For Android [Step-by-Step Guide] and gone through that grueling process, twice. Once on my laptop, and another on my friends laptop (running win xp sp2: it wouldn't even recognize the phone at all...) I've gone into the sys32 folder and searched for the msxml6.dll file and reinstalled it and re-registered that and msxml3.dll files which helped a little (allowed me to find out that kies 2.0 wouldn't support my phone).

Overall when I try to run the adb or the run.bat file the command prompt is telling me the phone is not connected. I've tried 4 different cables, different usb ports, 2 different computers with 2 different OS's, unplugging, rebooting after installs/uninstalls, turning the phone on and off, unplugging, ending the adb process and restarting, etc. I'm nearing my end of day 2 of my failed attempts to get this thing rooted. In the command prompt I've tried to get it to list the device. Needless to say, I'm getting more frustrated, although that more determined to get the damn thing rooted.

Anything I'm missing in this equation?
Sprint forced Samsung to remove Kies support from the Epic so its not gonna work..though it generally does do well at installing the drivers.

Anyways..first of all is your pc 32bit or 64bit? and are you using 32bit drivers or 64bit drivers?

Have you tried using a usb hub?

next...try uninstalling all drivers, kies and everything..install proper drivers, restart your phone, enable usb debugging..now plug in the phone on the bottom right it should be installing 4 drivers to that usb port..which drivers does it install?
