Re: ROOTing the ACER A500 (Root 3.0.1 or 3.1). Easy as 1-2-3
If you root you can go ahead and install any of the roms out there for the A500 that already have 3.1 on them. Find them on XDA-Developers as most of the development is there.
In my preference, root then upgrade through CWM
