What they told you might work to resolve some other issue with Visual VM not working, but the main jist of this thread was to address the issue of Visual VM not working when users have Handcent Texting setup as the Default Mail Program.
If you have Handcent, and you have the parameters of the program setup to allow Handcent to be your default Text Program, it will continue to mess up your Visual Voicemail.

Wait a couple of minutes at most and all of your voicemails will be rerouted and show up in the Visual Voice Mail app window.
