Cool, I've seen this suggested before, but didn't know if it actually worked.
Per the PIM Backup manual,
'If the backup is a text backup, for each kind of item backed up, there will be a dedicated file, with a specific extension; respectively "csc" for contacts, "csl" for call logs, "csa" for appointments, "cst" for tasks, "csd" for speed dials, "csm" for messages and "csx" for custom files.' So there may be way to get them to Android, but I don't know.
Getting your contacts and appointments have a better chance because they MIGHT be able to be imported into Google and then sync'd to your Evo. No experience there either. I would check
