You can convert 2D movies into 3D using split screen, but the effect doesn't work as good as if you're using stereoscopic cameras. Like on the EVO 3D.. you have two cameras side by side, so there's a slight difference in angles for the two images. Whereas, if you convert 2D to 3D, you're using the same pic and same angle, so the 3D won't be as "real" and it's more manufactured than anything else.
