I've ran Roms in both versions and have not noticed any significant gain or loss in battery life. so in the end it all depends on what ur looking for, if u want a phone that's reliable from day to day that won't go crazy on u and u don't want to hunt down and flash custom roms then go with 6.1. if u want flashy animations, and the latest and greatest cute stuff and love to hunt down and flash roms all the time then go with 6.5.
great write up Eric. I agree.

Scott's SSK rom is lights out great! But to be fair Vin 6.5 Neodium was damn good as well
