I see HTC and Samsung as industry leading ahead of the rest. No one one else has had as much success or as good hardware. The G2X is a pretty good device, but I just don't see LG really making a push for Android market share. You poll anyone who has Android and I would challenge you to find someone who doesn't have a Samsung or HTC.

Moto has a few phones but everyone I know with a Droid X complains about it and vows never again.

As far as raw hardware, I'd give the edge to Samsung, as far as UI, coding, and developer support I'd say HTC has the edge. Can't really go wrong with either, just depends on whether you want Sense 3 or TW4. Any claim that HTC is behind the times or somehow anachronistic doesn't hold much water with me.
