I don't know for sure on battery life but I'm thinking because after this is all rolled out there will be less roaming, it will save some battery life. On the hardware side I don't think it will use any more or less battery life but don't quote me on that. Also, since most people use their upgrades and they will have a newer phone with this chipset, I speak for everyone on the Sprint network when I sy their coverage with increase.
