The EVO 3D will support the SMR band!

Hello Sprint coverage."
I have googled smr band and came up with pages and pages of info on it but I dont really understand what it means. Could someone put it in "Tech for dummies" language for me?

The "SMR" band is a lower frequency than CDMA it is what Nextel phones run on (Iden network). This phone is going to be some of many that will be able to run on all sides of Sprint's network (CDMA, IDEN, and WIMAX), Right now Sprint is working on upgrading all towers not only to handle WIMAX or 4G capabilities, but they are making them all software based so that they can run at all frequencies. Not only is this going to make costs of fixing towers cheaper, everyones coverage is going to be much more extensive. Although, this is a long term process, they are thinking about 3 years to get done, most of the newer devices are going to be rolling out with this type of triple chipset.
