I wouldn't expect this behavior to be any different between a mobile device and Exchange versus a Windows workstation and Exchange. For example, if running Outlook on multiple workstations I can dismiss a calendar event / task on one workstation yet have the same reminder(s) pop on the other workstations as well, even after dismissing it on the original workstation. It appears the status of reminders is stored locally vs on Exchange.

Clear as Mississippi mud?
