the airwave is anything but free. it's a free monthly charge but u still have to buy the damn thing. how I know is because in my area there is some cell site issues with some damaged cells being repaired and good ones being removed and upgraded. this is causing some severe issues in my area with calls dropping and Ev speeds not going any higher than 150k,this causes my battery to overheat and really plummet. called sprint and was told that they are issuing airwaves to anyone having issues during these repairs and upgrades and that it wouldn't cost me any extra per month but I still would have to buy it for $150 I said no deal.and as for the OP try installing juice defender or just set it into airplane mode, I know that some workplaces install cellphone signal jammers to discourage use while on the job. where I used to work did that.
