well they will work out a dual-boot, so you can actually run either.

I guess the first step was actually flashing a working kernel and some libs to nand. Once they write a custom bootloader they can dual-boot.

porting WP7 to another device is insanely harder than the other way, since we don't have WP7 source. The only reason they could do it on the HD2 was because the HD2 was actually used as a WP7 test device and already had a test ROM for it and the hardware is almost identical to the HD7, I don't think you will see another WP7 port for quite some time if ever, the obvious solution is to write a custom bootloader for a WP7 device and dual-boot ftw.
