The original Angry Birds game required OpenGLES2.0... which our hardware doesn't support.
Try playing the game on a similarly specc'd G1 or anything else that's got slow hardware - you'll get the same (or similar) experience.
Can't expect our phones to run like they're brand new, just because they have a brand new OS
