lol, we usually just tell people to blow away the data.img when things start acting crazy.

I'm sure there's some sort of corruption happening in that file... I don't think anyone has really looked into why and where. The why is important, but I think the where changes... Unfortunately.

Good luck on your quest - it's usually easier to blow it away and restore with something like Titanium Backup.
