Try using a wired or BT headset to see if the microphone is busted. I've seen speakers go bad on TP/TP2 devices, though I suppose that microphone failure isn't anything out of the ordinary.
I have a TP2 in front me right now that sits in pieces. I can tell you that getting to the mic isn't nearly as easy as getting to the speaker
