Help with Opera and Adaptive Zoom

I designed a "portal" page for my own use. I designed the page to be 480pixels wide

alas opera "zooms" the page and makes it too small to use.

if I set default zoom to 100 in opera:config its NO joy no change.

if I set virtual width to 480 bingo perfect

BUT now when I use LANDSCAPE mode it ENLARGES the page (which I don't want)

what can I do? I want to retain the auto zoom for browsing sites but NOT have it muck with my site DESIGNED around my phone.

when I set virtual to 480 it also stops mucking with gmail. gmail IS large enough and clean enough to use in portrait but opera "shrinks" it (it tried to make my 480 wide 800 wide virtual)

when I set virtual to 480 wide all is peachy in portrait but BLOW UP in landscape. Grrr

so is there anyway to either set different virtual for landscape and portrait OR disable virtual zoom adaptive zoom for portrait?

or to have it only use adaptive for pages LARGER than the width of my screen. this way "adaptive" pages would simply reflow to the screen (like gmail)
