I didn't like that aspect either. Apparently you can change the setup by editing some things in the startup.txt or by using a different rootfs. I just downloaded a rootfs file here from the forums and copied it over the default one on my sd card and it automatically changed the controls of the power button. I think manekineko did it. It will allow you to use the power button on the top to go to homescreen on short press and go to all recently used applications on long press. It still wakes the phone too. here. It makes way more sense to me this way. I feel like the standard way the phone is set up with power being the same functions as end call is stupid, but that's just me.
