bad backupS?

so, before i started to mess with a2sd, i did a back up. messed around and reverted to the back up. later in the day, i rebooted (don't remember why) but then my phone fell into a bootloop... so i did the recovery again, and it was still in bootloop.. so i recovered yesterday's backup... still bootloop. the only other backup i had was from the 21st, bootloop... tried to clear cache, dalvik cache, sd.... hard reset, tried to flash new rom. bootloops. tried to flash eng-PC36IMG, but my phone said it was a bad zip file. anywho. i took it to sprint store and they swapped it for a refurb..
my question is, what are the chances any of my nandroid backups ruined my phone? i have important stuff in 2 of the backups, and don't want to risk messing this one up doing a recovery...
oh, and they all recovered successfully w/o any errors when i was getting bootloops.

thanks,
-u
