I'm just guessing. Do you have a lot of apps running? Maybe use taskiller to shut them down. For me, I'm not using gps at all so I disable location/gps service. I heard that gps operation can prevent your tp2 to go into sleep mode.

Edit: if you run the teminal emulator under dev parts, you can issue the following command to see the linux processes running; it's not going help you as a user but at least you can see if there's one process the hogs up the system:

su
top
