You can install WP7 dev tools on XP, I did it myself emulator and everything works it just takes some registry hacks, The issue I found is Chevron since it was created on and for Windows 7 its not a compatible
WIN32 application on XP, and its not worth the level of work needed to reverse engineer it and to make it work. I discovered this about 3 weeks ago and just upgraded to the student discount version of Windows 7. I love it no issues and everything on the HD2/chevron unlocker side, as well as everything else(DFT ROM/XAP/Apps Live services etc) worked like a charm. I figured I could hack it all on XP but in the end it was not worth the work and Im happy I upgraded.
If anyone is intrested on WP7 dev tools on XP try or search or send me a PM. But you will only get about 75% development value out of it. If you truly want WP7 on your HD2 and are serious about developing for WP7 you need to just upgrade as Orange Kid suggested, you can try VISTA<

> as I did. The work need and hacks are just too many and don't give you 100% functionality. Basicly its not worth the work.
Now im reading up on the Kitchen being created over at XDA, and Tools in order to make custom ROMS.
I love my HD2, I dual boot WP7 and Android from MAGLDR 1.12. If you have not heard Cotulla released MAGLDR 1.13 and is working on a WM6.5 SD version capability. Soon we'll be triple booting with some partions and such. I alerted NGRZ28 of this via twitter as hes my fav Windows Mobile 6.5.X ROM builder.
The HD2 is by far my favorite mobile device ever. Usually I like to upgrade phones every 6months to a year, but not with my HD2 its trully outliving itself with all the great work by cotulla, Dark Forces Team (DFT) and others.
