I don't run linux, but it seems that the only thing you need to execute while connected to a PC is to install the unlocker. ROM and radio upgrades can be installed from the SD card after that. If you can temporarily boot your PC into Windows, or use a friend's Windows PC, to install the unlocker, then after that all you would need is the ability to write to an SD card from your Linux machine and you can try out all of the upgrade ROMs.
