I suggest that you first do a nandroid back-up, and keep that copy of the stock rom handy because you never know when you are going to need it. yeah if the RUU is a .exe you can run it from your computer, if the stock rom is a .img then thats when you need to be able to get into hboot/recovery. well what mikewest was saying is that unrevoked is what's going to be used to root your phone again because you should be locked back up like you was when you first got the phone so your going to have to run unrevoked to get s-off.
