It seemed to be because of ASync. Even though it was connected I never actually sync anything with async. When I tried to unlock the phone the last time it gave me some unable to sync with async and that I needed to set up a syncing relationship or something like that. So, I synced something small from my phone with async and then tried to flash again and it worked. Go figure!
