Re: specific advantages over iPhone?

what I found with my Windows Mobile HTC XV6700 was that yes, it was highly modifiable (I ended up flashing a new ROM and applying all sorts of tweaks) but all those modifications were necessary to get it and WM6.5 to work to its full potential. I know some people like to modify just because it's fun, but I'm wondering: with the modifications, what will it actually *do* that the iPhone doesn't do out of the box? Aside from the sheer fun of modification, what functionality does it get us that isn't reachable on the closed iPhone platform? Is it mostly themes and appearance? I haven't used Android much and am trying to get the feel for what the modifiability will actually get me.

if you want a phone that you can modify and theme ect.. an android device would be your best bet. (assuming you are a little tech savvy)

that looks very good; any idea how soon it will be out?

thanks!
