That sucks but it is so true. We had to have our controllers (embedded PCs) custom made because we could not even find a SBC (single board computer) with consistant components. When we went to the manufacturer, they would NOT gurantee us consistancy, even by batch. They explained that they bought all the components on margin and they made no effort to mix an match parts. Since timing was critical (I/O within 5ms), we brought in a couple of techs to build our boards custom. Cost a bunch but we got consistancy.
