I think one problem you may have is the amount of changes and test files that are coming out lately, all of which are just tests, and like fried said, they may not work with each other. First off, make sure you're not OC'ing in WM. I would recommend starting with one build (reference or blazn), get that up and running, then once it's running good, start tweaking, but don't delete or overwrite files when you make a change, just remove the files you want to change (don't overwrite the zimage, just move it to a different place so you can revert back to it if you don't like the new changes). And often when my system's getting laggy, etc, I'll just delete the old data.img and let is build another, seems to fix many of my issues.
I am with you on this. Not clear why it seems slow, but worthwhile debugging... as it is either Windows Phone 7 or Android for the next phone and this is a good chance to understand how Android works.

It seems that right after I installed it was faster. The only thing I did after installing was to get the radio to work by changing the force CDMA parameter 0->1 (my SIM card is out) and then I configured my gmail account.

Is there a way to monitor active processes? That is easy enuf to do in Windows, fedora or Ubuntu, but not sure how to do that in a phone distro.

Cheers
Which build are you using? Your sig has 2.1 listed and I found those to be quite buggy.
