I can second that. As long as its an update from the same dev it usually works without any issues. Having said that, I also have discovered that using clockwork data restore over and over and over from ROM to ROM to ROM (all from different cooks) will eventually corrupt your data. I flashed 5 or 6 different ROMS, all from different cooks over a month and at the end of it my phone had so many FC's and errors that I had to wipe everything and start over from scratch. Titanium Backup worked great for restoring my apps (I didn't want to lose all my progress on Angry Birds LOL!). But I had to put everything else back together manually. Since then I have stuck with the midNIGHT ROM exclusively and have done both update without wiping and with wiping and using clockwork data restore. So far no problems at all.
