Im not sure about Google....I mean you could get the directions on your pc and save as text file....Blah Blah Blah...transfer to phone and your set...
However another option is EarthComber...a little weird to use but it lets you save maps and such.
It took me a couple of hours to understand how it worked.

Also no internet is needed since it saves it all on your phone.
But it wont show you exactly where you are since it not like GPS or anything but if your good with directions you can figure out where you are by highways/exits/cross streets etc.
