Sorry, I lost track of this thread...

WiFi router:

Is the SSID set to display a network name or to be "stealthy"? As this is an "N" router, is it 2.5 or 5Ghz? If 2.5, is it set to allow "G" as well as "N" WiFi connections? This is something you set up.

If the SSID is set for "off", the network won't be seen (at least not with a "name").
The TP2 (and many inexpensive laptops/network cards) won't work at 5Ghz.
If your other equipment is 802.11n, then your router may be set for "N only" and not allow "G" or "B" connections. You can change this.

The above can cause a network not to be seen. Once you can see the network, then you have to address security. The TP2 will work with the current levels of security and on Access-point, Ad-Hoc, or both types of connections.
