Honestly, I have never had any issues with gps on my sprint tp2 and since I have heard many verizon tp2 owners complain I wondered if something screwy was done in with the verizon model in the shipped spl like verizon did on the old vogue.
On the verizon vogue gps would work great with the verizon navigation app but not with anything else unless you flashed an older shipped rom which changed and unlocked gps.
Again, I'm just wondering.

While I realize you say a 3rd party program to make it "sort of work" isn't a fix, it really does more than the standard GPS can do on its own. Some applications like Garmin XT cannot use cellular triangulation, but the GPSModDriver actually supports that and passes that data through to Garmin XT.

Also, it has the ability to project your location based on speed and direction to help minimize the lag that is inherent in all GPS (though it is worse on the TP2 than it is on a lot of other devices).

Not to get this subject too far off topic but....

The biggest problem I have with TP2 is the lag, it's so bad I'm not kidding (2-3 seconds). I have tried Tomtom, Navigon and bing (bing still shows some lag, it has gotten me lost a few time, yes, Bing). My old Titan's GPS with A-GPS was flawless with Tomtom, under 10 second locks 95% of the time and 0 lag. The TP2 is not even close. I guess I try IGO8 next.

Paying for a extra addon program that I have to run right before I use a GPS program (GPSgate) just to get GPS working on a phone that claims GPS support is a problem for me. I have already spent money on tomtom, why should I spend more ??

As for the GPSModDriver I personally think its worse, so you pass a road, then turn it updates 2-3 seconds after you pass the road. A guess (what it's doing) is not a fix for it. It might work for some, but, not for me. I would pay for GPS gate (because it does work during the trial) before using that GPSModDriver again.

I just want a turn by turn GPS software that I just open, 95%+ of the time locks within 30 seconds and is dependable with out having other 3rd party programs running. I don't think it's even possable on a TP2...

I was hoping that MR3 had some update to fix this but, let's not go off topic any more on this.
