Re: "Free" tethering internet connection-sprint

I did get my evo rooted w/o too much drama from the link above. Spent a couple of extra hours on it because I didn't do a "clear storage" in bootloader first, I only booted it. But it's done, so thanks again.

I can't get the Android-wifi-tether above working, though. Install fails w/o any error messages besides "failed to install". Maybe because I'm running 2.2 and it only lists 2.1? But I found I can connect with a USB cable and just take the "connect to PC" option. Maybe I could've done that before? I know it didn't work in WM on my TP2 w/o doing some hacks first, so I just assumed it would not either. Hopefully, it's the "free" connection. Works well.

But if I do get a wifi tether going, how do I tell the phone to connect? With a cable, it prompts me. With the wifi, is it just automatic, phone is always connected kind of thing? Any more suggestions for other wifi tether apps?

Thanks much folks! Learning fast.
