for the google maps problem u may need to hard reset because reinstalling and deleting shortcuts and files related to the extra copy probly wont fix it. for the gmail situation i just use activesync or exchange to set that up open activesync and hit menu and then add server source, on the next screen enter
youremail@gmail.com and uncheck the box where it says automatically detect settings, hit next and in server address enter m.google.com then it next and ull be prompted to enter ur username and password, once again
youremail@gmail.com and then hit next select what u want to sync and then ur done. (dont check tasks or text messages as that does not yet work)
