Re: Now that it's released, is WP7 worth it?
I got my Surround yesterday and set it up, so today is my 2nd day of using it (actually, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet).
The OS is growing on me. I can see both sides of this argument actually, and I hope with time, it'll just get better. I mean, look back at Android 1.0 and now 2.2. If Microsoft continues pushing updates out like Google does, it'll be one hell of an OS to compete with IMO.
I don't mind not modding/tweaking my phone. Sure, it was a great way to waste time, and I can't count how many hours I've spent flashing my WM phones and my Android phones.
My biggest complaint right now is the lack of apps. WP7 has only been available in the US for less than a month now, so I'm giving it time, but I do miss some of my Android apps that I got used to using everyday.
I don't mind not having access to the file system. I've spent the last few days getting used to Zune on my PC and I don't mind syncing things through there. They do need to add some more functionality though, like backing up settings, syncing docs, etc.
Maybe I'm missing something, but with Office, I don't see a way to edit files on my SkyDrive. They offer SharePoint services, but I don't have that. So I could create docs on my phone, but how do I get them off of it since I can't sync them with Zune or upload them to SkyDrive. Like I said, maybe I'm just missing this.
So right now I'm just waiting for my favorite apps to get ported over...that includes an offline GPS solution like Garmin, TomTom, Navigon...something.
