You have to be careful flashing a bunch of shipped roms because you may brick it because shipped roms include the radio. After installing the hspl I would try flashing one of the shipped roms for the european version with the front camera that has the gsm radio. Maybe the camera would function then.
This may be similar to the FM Radio issue where the front camera is enabled/disabled within the spl.
