If your following the instructions to the letter, one thing you can try is to unplug any other USB item on your computer. Some people thing the USB ports can interfere with the root process.

Another thing to try is just using a different computer. My laptop wouldn't work to root my Inc, but when I tried it on a PC I had root in a flash!
