The refurb I got had a bad speaker and no lights under the hardware buttons. So, they gave me a brand new unit today.
It had Froyo 2.2 on it already.
I went to the Root tutorial, which directed me to and xda thread [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developersto root a 2.2 Sprint phone, but it doesn't work. That thread is outdated...but I tried it anyway.
Everything seems to go well until I get to the part where you have to use unrevoked 3. The phone says I have rolled back to 2.1 (eclair).
I get to the step using unrEVOked and it can't root...it's says it's missing the misc.
Is there a way to root this phone?

i rooted my brother Evo last night using Unrevoked with no problems. He had his phone since Aug, so he has been installing all the OTA updates. But I didnt his phone in like 5mins.
