Perhaps due to the fact I'm using a ROM with 3.30.651.2 though.
In any case, getting or not getting this update is not as cut-and-dry as the date your Evo was purchased.

That statement was for those that have not changed their version. YOU obviously went to the 3.30. So yes, it is true.
