How to sell a broken Hero?

(Question about CDMA Hero)

Before I begin, this isn't a solicitation for a sale. I figured I'd post here since it's a general Android question. I've posted at xda but haven't had any input yet.

-------

I'm going to be getting a new phone. Currently, I have a Hero along with my gf's Hero that she broke last April. She dropped it on a hard bathroom floor. The screen is still intact but the trackball popped out and I never found it. Also, the unit doesn't power up. That's the biggest issue I'm facing. I disassembled it and tried to see if the contacts were broke. They didn't seem to be.

I was going to sell both phones together. Sort of a 'you get 2 phones but one doesn't work...use for parts...'. Where my screen has a slight, 2cm scratch, hers is perfect. Mine has the dust under the screen issue, hers doesn't. Mine was one that had the paint come off the power button issue, hers did not.

My main concern is how to get rid of any data on her phone. I'm guessing there isn't a way to do it unless I can get the thing to boot up. If I can't, would I be better off just selling the screen and housing and ditch the 'guts'? I'm not too savvy with phones but I can open the phone and separate it into:

Back cover
Battery housing
motherboard (after releasing the 2 ribbon cable things)
Screen still connected to front case

Thanks a lot for your input.
