FYI to those interested.
Well after following the directions in the linked thread, I got my phone back to unrooted stock without a hitch! Took the phone to Sprint Repair Center and after replacing the speaker with two new ones, the tech discovered that there was a faulty "up" volume switch causing the buzzing. I will be getting a replacement (refurb) tomorrow so hopefully I wont have any new issues.
