Calibration of the compass - xda-developers - i like his answer, but it doesnt neccessarily answer why its off so much when just laying down VS standing up

YouTube - Best Compass Calibration Method (iPhone/G1/etc.) - this one says for iPhone but the user said worked on Hero

also mentioned "Analog Compass" app(free) is said to have a free calibration tool..

just google "EVO Compass" - youll see theres been alot of Threading about this on the web
