I don't use the push email anyway because I don't like being bothered with every single email I get. I'd rather just look at 10 at once every hour. But I think I have discovered the right path to a solution. It seems that the phone will not check email when it is in standby mode. It has to wake itself up to check email. One of my email accounts takes a long time to connect and download mail, so I think the phone was turning itself off before it could complete the email check. So I changed the power settings to turn the phone off after 2 minutes rather than 1 minute and I seem to be getting my email more consistently. I will give another update after a few days at this setting.
