Shouldn't that read 'CDMA'? And how do I get that to change?
UPDATE: After a soft-reset of the device and reload of Froyo, 3G Data appears to be working. UTMS is still listed as the Mobile Network Type under phone specs, too. Not sure why a soft-reset would be necessary to make that functional...? Still experimenting with Android, but so far I'm loving how smooth and quick this Froyo build is.

Good to hear you got data working after a soft-reset. I had to use the verizon-esque method for getting data to work after 6 softresets/reboots.
As far as what it says as far as the UTMS or anything else, I will say that mine has even said GPRS and EDGE before. Don't know if its because the kernal using a universal cell identifier, but after putting the phone into airplane mode, then taking it out , everything seemed to go back to 'normal'.
I will make mention of one more thing. Having DATA on has significantly increased the heat output of my phone. Before I fixed the APN issue my phone ran nice and cool even when charging. Now it's one hot tamale. Will report later on how fast the battery dies as I will have it off charger for about 4 hours.
