look @ it this way..remember the phone runs off of battery right? so even if nothing was plugged in..the power is still routed there somehow and drains the battery..like your outlet..even if nothings there..the outlet still has power right?..only thing your power @ home wouldnt die cuz of your electricity company(which doesnt use a battery)..hope it helps a little

But if you plug in nothing in any power outlet in your house for a whole month, your power consumption bill would be very close to zero.
