Data in France

For the search-able record thought I would note how I dealt with the Sprint degradation of their data-plan while in France. As Sprint user may know they now charge $16/MB. So I asked around while here for a month and this is what I did:

I replaced my SIM with a standard Mobicarte SIM from Orange (the biggest and best carrier). ($20 euro).

I then put 20 euro on the card and go for that 2-3h of unlimited data. Plenty for e-mail etc.

This was not easy to do as the major companies are no help and there are a long set of instruction to follow to set up the card for data. But what I did was to go to a small reseller who deals basically with the Arab and African world here in Nice and he programmed the phone and set it up for me. Even speaking French would have been impossible to follow instructions. You can find these guys around any train station.
