I have the same problem occasionally - cannot connect it with the device awakening or anything but any of the following actions seems to restore everything for me.

1. reset

2. pop the card out and re-insert it

3. read the properties of the storage card in File Explorer

The last is the least intrusive.

I have a question for you though - what are you using for the GPS on your Touch?
