If so when I use that to get a list of all apps and hold on swype, I get a a list of options, but delete is not one of them. If I hit menu and then Batch and select one of those options, pressing and holding an item doesn't pull up a menu of options.

use the backup/restore tab. tap the program you want to uninstall and select uninstall. you do not hold on it just tap it.
