They only look the same. Actually the SMS one brings up MMS. Try this: Action/SMS/Menu/Insert/ If you select the menu button you'll see the insert menu item, where on the MMS it does not have this (meaning it is an SMS). From Action/MMS/Menu there is no Insert menu item.

Found a post that shows how to change the Action Menu! Thanks to orignal poster and subsequent poster.
